Poems & Tributes

God Chose You for Me

Dear Mom, Dad, Chantelle and Melanie

I thank you most heartly

For God Looked down and selected the best

When He chose you for me.

My family, God’s gift, though he knew

The plans that he had for me,

That I’d whistle and sing, only happiness bring,

While He chose you for me.

All the love, all the caring you gave

Not every child gets to see.

In your tolerant way you did all that was asked,

When God chose you for me.

For our home oh how dear to me

I love you so tenderly

But the world did call, and although you did plea,

You knew that God chose it for me.

The world’s wicked woes I won’t see,

Protected from harm I am free.

For you stood in for God, until the right time,

When God chose to come for me.

If the wind whistles in the night,

Or a bird sings high in a tree,

Just close your eyes, for I’m singing my song,

“Thank God, He chose you for me”.

Now “Promise me you will take care”

For I’m happy just being right here

So get on with your lives, for I want you to be

Contented and care free like me.

IN MEMORIAM

RYAN PENNY

JUNE 6, 1980-NOVEMBER 1, 2003

WE REMEMBER:

                A sleepy baby.

                An energetic boy.

                A pleasant teenager.

                A happy man.

WE REMEMBER:

Your Summer Games rugby try in CBS.

                Your softball games.

                Your love of hockey.

                Your smile.

WE REMEMBER:

                A house full of friends.

                Your love of music.

                Your grocery shopping at Dominion.

                Your head in the fridge.

WE REMEMBER:

                Your constant whistle.

                Your respect for us.

                Sending you the Gazette.

                The calls from Edmonton.

WE REMEMBER:

                Your love of Black Horse.

                Your turkey dinners.

                Your trip to Vegas.

                Your AC/DC concerts.

WE REMEMBER:

You saying “you’ll like her, Mom.”

                What Christmas meant to you.

                Your matchmaking for your sister.

Your love of home and family.

WE WILL NEVER FORGET:

                The awful news.

                All your friends coming home.

Missing your calls.

The two babies who are called after you.

Your whistle.

Our love for you.

In Memory of My Brother

One year has passed since I heard your voice,

It’s not what I want, but I have no choice.

Gotta pick up the pieces and keep going on,

This past year just seems so long.

Painted green or dressed in red,

I can’t get your smile out of my head.

What will I do, where will I go,

The road lies ahead is rocky, I know.

“Hello Sister,” I long to hear,

“Come on let’s go on another tear.”

Get in the car and down the road,

Off to the Pier where the beer is cold.

Clint, Michael and Perry went to the skies,

All taken from us without any goodbyes.

Together now, looking down with love,

Angels, I call you, in Heaven far above.

But you’ll be there, sitting next to me,

In all I do, wherever I’ll be.

I want to see the light in your eyes,

All I can do now is look to the skies.

“He’s whistling with the Angels

having a pint from a silver cup.”

                                                “The Whistler” Jimmy Whiffen

I miss you and think of you every hour

of every day.  Until we meet again, my

brother, I love you.  Melanie

“Until we meet again, may God hold you

in the palm of His Hand.”

All our love Mom, Dad, Chantelle and Nan.
